Balance and Strength Classes – Ringwood Sports Medicine
Our Balance and Strength Classes are designed to help improve confidence, safety, and independence when moving in everyday life. Combining muscular strength training, balance exercises, and gait retraining, these classes are ideal for community members who feel unsteady on their feet, experience difficulties with walking, or want to reduce their risk of falls.
Sessions make use of a variety of training methods, including exercise equipment, aerobic activities, and mat based exercises. Elements of Clinical Pilates are also incorporated to build core stability, improve posture, and restore efficient movement patterns.
Who Are Balance and Strength Classes For?
These classes are supervised by our experienced Physiotherapists and Masters Trained Exercise Physiologists and are tailored for individuals who may:
- Feel unsteady or unsafe when walking in the community
- Have reduced muscular strength or balance difficulties
- Be recovering from illness, injury, or surgery
- Want to maintain independence and reduce fall risk
- Seek to improve coordination, posture, and functional mobility
Whether you are returning to exercise after an injury or simply want to feel more confident moving around, our programs can be adapted to suit your needs.
Why Choose Balance and Strength Training?
Reduced strength and balance are common contributors to falls and mobility issues, particularly as we age. Even when pain or injury improves, movement patterns and muscle control often remain impaired. Without targeted rehabilitation, this can increase the risk of re-injury or future mobility problems.
Our Balance and Strength Classes focus on rebuilding muscular control, improving gait, and restoring functional strength. By addressing these areas, participants gain better stability, more efficient movement, and renewed confidence in their daily activities.
Program Structure
- Group classes (maximum 12 participants) with supervision and individual attention

- Design a program that meets your needs
Pre-assessments can be claimed through private health extras and must be booked by phone. Your assessment is completed by the same clinician who will supervise your classes, ensuring continuity and personalised care.
