Running Classes – Ringwood Sports Medicine

Our Running Classes are designed to help athletes and active individuals improve their running technique, speed, power, and efficiency — while reducing the risk of injury. Led by our Accredited Exercise Physiologist, these sessions focus on correct running mechanics and evidence-based training methods to optimise performance at every level.

Whether you’re returning from injury or looking to take your performance to the next stage, our classes provide a structured and supportive environment tailored to your goals.

Who Are Running Classes For?

These classes are ideal for:

  • Athletes returning from injury (e.g. ACL reconstruction, broken leg, or stress fractures)
  • Runners aiming to increase pace, speed, and power
  • Athletes preparing for competition or performance testing
  • Individuals with poor running mechanics or recurrent injuries
  • Anyone wanting to improve efficiency, reduce fatigue, and move with confidence

Why Focus on Running Mechanics?

Many injuries in runners and field athletes are linked to inefficient technique, muscle imbalances, or reduced control after injury. Even after rehabilitation, old movement patterns often persist—slowing recovery and increasing the chance of reinjury.

Our classes focus on restoring ptimal biomechanics,o building explosive strength and power, and refining gait patterns to ensure you run faster, safer, and more efficiently.

Program Structure

Each class is tailored to your needs and may include:

  • Running drills targeting stride length, cadence, and efficiency
  • Strength and power training to improve acceleration and sprint capacity
  • Gait retraining to optimise mechanics and reduce load on joints
  • Agility and coordination work to enhance movement control
  • Injury prevention strategies to build resilience for long-term performance

Classes are run in small groups to ensure close supervision and personalised feedback.
