Precise, Data Driven Assessments for Performance, Injury Prevention & Recovery

At Ringwood Sports Medicine, we offer advanced High Performance Strength and Power Testing using the internationally recognised VALD Performance technology suite, the same cutting edge human measurement systems utilised by elite sporting organisations, universities, defence departments and professional teams worldwide.

Our testing services provide objective, quantitative data that help athletes, active individuals and rehabilitation patients understand their physical capabilities, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and guide evidence based training and recovery plans.

Why Strength and Power Testing Matters

Strength and power are fundamental components of athletic performance and functional movement. Assessing these qualities objectively allows us to:

  • Identify muscle imbalances or asymmetries that may increase injury risk or limit performance.
  • Track changes in strength and power over time, giving clear benchmarks for progress.
  • Inform personalised training and rehabilitation programs based on your unique profile.
  • Support informed decisions about return to sport, return to work, or escalating training intensity.

By measuring actual force and power outputs, not just subjective effort, we empower you and your clinician with meaningful data that adds precision to your care.

World Class VALD Performance Technology

At Ringwood Sports Medicine, we use VALD Performance systems, a leader in human measurement technology designed to deliver laboratory grade assessments in a clinical setting.

VALD ForceDecks Dual Force Plate System

  • ForceDecks are advanced force plates that measure force production, power, rate of force development, balance and movement asymmetry with millisecond precision. These insights help assess strength and power during tasks like jumps, squats, hops and landings are key indicators of performance and injury risk.

VALD DynaMo Strength & Range Assessment

  • DynaMo is a handheld dynamometry system that captures real time strength and joint range metrics across major muscle groups. This enables precise evaluation of individual muscle strength, from grip to lower limb and core, informing targeted strength optimisation.

What to Expect in Your Assessment

Your tailored high performance testing session will include:

  • Strength testing: objective measures of muscle force production.
  • Power profiling: evaluation of explosive ability via force and velocity metrics.
  • Asymmetry analysis: comparison of left vs. right limb performance.
  • Movement quality and balance evaluation, insights into stability and control.

Each assessment produces a detailed report you can review with your clinician. Results are also tracked over time so we can monitor improvements and adjust your program accordingly.

Who Benefits from High Performance Testing?

High Performance Strength and Power Testing is valuable for:

  • Athletes seeking to optimise performance, monitor progress and minimise injury risk.
  • Post injury or post surgical rehab patients aiming for safe and objective return to activity benchmarks.
  • Fitness enthusiasts looking to set meaningful goals and track measurable gains.
  • Clinicians and coaches who require evidence based metrics to tailor training or rehab prescriptions.

The VALD Advantage

VALD Performance systems provide:

  • Reliable, repeatable data you can trust, with real time values that enhance clinician decision making.
  • Fast, efficient testing protocols that fit within clinical sessions.
  • Benchmarks against industry standard norms, helping contextualise your results.
  • Objective measures for personalised planning, whether for rehab, performance or return to sport goals.

What is involved?

  • The High Performance Strength and Power Testing session is conducted over a 60 minute appointment. During this time, you will complete a structured series of performance assessments designed to evaluate strength, power, and limb symmetry.
  • Testing typically includes plyometric tasks such as double leg jumping and single leg hopping to assess force production, power output, and movement asymmetries. You will also perform a maximal full body strength assessment, known as the Isometric Mid Thigh Pull (IMTP), which provides a reliable measure of overall force generation.
  • Additional assessments may be included based on individual needs, sporting demands, or rehabilitation goals.
  • Following the session, a comprehensive performance report will be generated and emailed to you, allowing you and your clinician to review results and use the data to guide training, rehabilitation, or return to performance planning in subsequent sessions.

Cost

The fee for the 60 minute High Performance Strength and Power Testing session, which includes a comprehensive performance report, is $350.

Any subsequent sessions focused on program development, performance optimisation, or rehabilitation planning based on your test results will be billed at the standard consultation rates for physiotherapy or exercise physiology.
