Hydrotherapy at Ringwood Sports Medicine

Hydrotherapy is a low-impact form of exercise performed in warm water heated to approximately 33–35°C. This gentle aquatic therapy is guided by our expert Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists, who tailor each program to suit your specific injury or condition.

Benefits of Hydrotherapy

The buoyancy of water reduces the weight placed on joints and muscles, allowing you to improve strength, flexibility, and mobility with less pain and strain on the body. This makes hydrotherapy an ideal option for those recovering from injury or managing chronic conditions.

Who Can Benefit from Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy is effective for people dealing with:

  • Spinal injuries and disorders
  • Joint and muscle injuries
  • Post surgical rehabilitation
  • Osteoarthritis and other degenerative joint conditions

Patient Access & Funding

We welcome patients under the following schemes and private care:

  • NDIS
  • WorkCover
  • Transport Accident Commission (TAC)
  • Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA)

Pre-Hydrotherapy Assessment

Before starting hydrotherapy classes or sessions, a pre-assessment is required with one of our physiotherapists at our clinic. This assessment ensures your safety and suitability for aquatic exercise. Additionally, a GP medical consent form must be completed by your doctor before participation.

The pre-assessment is claimable through private health insurance extras cover.
