Melanie – Clinical Myotherapist – Ringwood Sports Medicine
Melanie is a highly experienced Myotherapist who graduated from RMIT with an Advanced Diploma of Remedial Massage and Myotherapy in 2007. She has worked alongside many of the Ringwood Sports Medicine team members since 2008 and has recently returned to practice after taking 12 months off to have her first child. Melanie is very excited to be back treating patients and working with the team again.
Melanie has extensive experience working with elite athletes and sporting organisations. She has worked with Victorian and Australian elite gymnastics programs, including attending National Championships and travelling with elite athletes. She has also worked as a Myotherapist at the Australian Open for many years, treating professional tennis players and high-performance athletes.
Throughout her career, Melanie has treated a wide range of patients including triathletes, runners, divers, football and soccer players, swimmers at World FINA Championships, dancers from the Australian Ballet, and athletes from Gymnastics Victoria, as well as the general public with occupational, acute and chronic conditions.
Melanie uses a wide range of treatment techniques including deep tissue and soft tissue massage, myofascial dry needling, cupping, myofascial release, stretching, trigger point therapy, thermal therapy, TENS, corrective exercises, MET, and postural and body mechanics education. She is passionate about injury prevention, helping people understand their bodies, and keeping people active and performing at their best.
Outside of work, Melanie has a strong sporting and dance background, having competed at State level in swimming and running, and has over 25 years of involvement in dance and calisthenics.
